PUBLICATIONS >> "ABC.IT" series
In June 2004 r. was published the first issue of "ABC.IT" series
- reissued Research and Science Work of Institute of Mathematical Machines
devoted to innovative information technologies, e.g.
e-learning systems (authoring tools, LMS systems, intelligent
e-courses). Next issue will be published in October 2004.
The order of "ABC.IT" issues can be placed at:
bi@imm.org.pl
The
eighth issue -
2/2007(8) - is
particularly concentrated on the functioning of the
Moodle e-learning platform. Demonstrates the
criterion of evaluation and choose the open source
solutions. Articles present the subsequent stages of
creation and deployment of the courses on the Moodle
platform showing the elements supporting the
administration and distance training control
process. Presents the topics of the adaptive
knowledge transfer using the tools accessible on the
Moodle platform. In the issue reader can find the
analysis of the platform interoperability and
problem of reliability of tests assessment. Special
focus was put on the role of e-mentor in the
effectiveness and efficiency of distance learning.
That subject was presented on the base of experience
of innovative training RENOWATOR Center which
has an objective to introduce e-learning into
economy sector (www.renowator.org.pl).
The
seventh issue -
1/2007(7) - is particulary
concentrated on the standard e- learning models.
Describes some aspects and traps of the newest
SCORM 2004 3rd Edition specification from the
LMS platform user point of view. Demonstrates the
topics concerning the tests’ interoperability and
the results’ reporting in the e- learning systems by
using the IMS Question And Test Interoperability
2.1 Public Draft 2 specification. Illustrates
the tools which act together with LMS systems. Shows
the example of the tool based on IMS Question and
Test Interoperability specification supporting
process of testing. Additionally presents the idea
of the new standard Common Cartridge (CC)
concerning the e-content of new generation.
As the practical aspect of e-
learning exemplifies the authoring tool for creation
non-standard e-courses which stimulate the group
cooperation of the distance training participants.
In the issue are also presented the examples of good
practices in the e-courses’ creation process.
The sixth issue - 2/2006(6) – is a
continuation of discussion on e-content subject. It
contains the second part of the paper about
cooperation between a discipline expert and an
instructional designer. It discusses authoring tool
selection criteria, which can help to choose a tool,
which will allow realizing the designed scenario. It
also presents how to use TeleEdu authoring tool to
create courses with embedded expert knowledge, as an
example of one of the possible e-learning
development paths. Expert abilities of e-courses and
LMS platforms are on the top of e-learning
development, as they allow to create on-line
instructional systems and to deliver just-in-time
“knowledge pills” to a trainee. The issue contains
also a discussion on using virtual mentors in
e-courses, as a method for improving quality and
effectiveness of e-learning. The results of
conducted researches and conformance tests of Moodle
e-learning platform with SCORM 2004 specification
are published, as well as conclusions and hints for
potential users, interested in introducing the
platform and/or placing SCORM 2004 conformant tests
on it. Moreover, we present The Certified
Specialists Database – the place to look for
specialists from innovative information technologies,
including e-learning, available at
www.renowator.org.pl
. The database supports promotion of people with high competencies, confirmed by certificates of science units – System Research Institute and Institute of Mathematical Machines.
Summaries and Table of Content.
The fifeth issue - 1/2006(5) – contain, among others,
articles on repositories and LMS platforms interoperability.
As a continuation of knowledge serving methodology subject,
the third part of deliberation on dynamic e-course scenario
construction will be presented. In the practical part, we will
share with our Readers next experiences in scope of e-learning
services delivery, as well as specific of organization and trainings
conduction within the framework of RENOWATOR Centre.
The fourth issue -2/2005(4) – is concentrated particularly around present e-learning trends,
referring to the global problem of high costs of e-content elaboration and creation. It discusses
the new approach of standardization bodies to LMS platforms and authoring tools functionality. T
he features mainly stressed are those facilitating multiple use of the same components.
Tightly related with it is an efficient dissemination and distribution of e-learning
content by automatic e-content repositories. The other articles in this issue concern
our present experience as e-learning services supplier. People interested in practical
aspect of e-learning will find useful hints regarding remote courses administration.
They can also learn about the RENOWATOR Centre ( www.renowator.org.pl )
and about using e-courses in vocational skills improvement process.
In scope of methodic, we propose advice for scenarios authors,
in TeleEdu eLearning Suite environment.
The third issue -1/2005(3) - contains an extended description
of using metadata for standardized (compliant with SCORM 1.2 and SCORM CAM 1.3)
dissemination of course information on LMS/LCMS platforms, in repositories, and
also in the courses themselves. The other papers refer to the current market
trends in scope of e-learning services. They present dynamic scenarios as a
base for elaborating an effective e-course and introduce some comparison and
evaluation criteria for authoring tools. People, who are interested in
practical side of e-learning, will find in the current issue valuable hints
concerning the "compliance with SCORM" problem. This subject is based on this
year's experience of our experts in cooperation with our partners concerning
placing e-courses on e-learning platforms.
The second issue - 2/2004(2) - concerns e-learning technologies as well
as e-teaching, because these two areas of electronic education have a lot of
relation with each other. The e-teaching rules can be realized only with
well-developed technologies, and advantages of technologies can be presented by
implementing complex teaching purposes. The main subjects of this issue's
papers are the new development directions of electronic education technology,
effective knowledge testing, games joining in e-courses pleasant and useful
things, rules of instructional designing and instructional designer as a new
profession.
The first issue - 1/2004 - includes the analysis of e-learning
solutions, which were been offered on Polish market in 2003-2004.
