| NEWS e-learning document management distance learning LMS CRM The sixth edition of ABC.IT already available On the beginning of December, the sixth issue from ABC.IT series was published. The issue is titled "e-Content creation technology" - is a continuation of discussion on e-content subject. It contains the second part of the paper about cooperation between a discipline expert and an instructional designer. It discusses authoring tool selection criteria, which can help to choose a tool, which will allow realizing the designed scenario. It also presents how to use TeleEdu authoring tool to create courses with embedded expert knowledge, as an example of one of the possible e-learning development paths. Expert abilities of e-courses and LMS platforms are on the top of e-learning development, as they allow to create on-line instructional systems and to deliver just-in-time “knowledge pills” to a trainee. The issue contains also a discussion on using virtual mentors in e-courses, as a method for improving quality and effectiveness of e-learning. The results of conducted researches and conformance tests of Moodle e-learning platform with SCORM 2004 specification are published, as well as conclusions and hints for potential users, interested in introducing the platform and/or placing SCORM 2004 conformant tests on it. Moreover, we present The Certified Specialists Database – the place to look for specialists from innovative information technologies, including e-learning, available at www.renowator.org.pl . The database supports promotion of people with high competencies, confirmed by certificates of science units – System Research Institute and Institute of Mathematical Machines. IV Conference from "Learning Electronization" series
This year’s, already fourth e-Learning
Conference „Focus on e-Content” from „Learning
Electronization” series, organized by IMM, was devoted to
the problems of electronic courses creation.
The Participants could become familiar with cooperation technology between disciplines experts and instructional designers, with the most frequent problems encountered by producers, authors and instructional designers during e-course production. Evaluation and testing of e-courses were the other discussed issues. Conference participants could listen to the lectures, and during traditional workshop session, associated with the conference, they could learn on sample errors of electronic courses, how to recognize a course meeting common standards and what is an e-learning role in knowledge database creation. This year, besides mentioned workshop session and discussion panel, there was also a meeting of „Scientists in EQUAL programme” Work group. On this session, the issues of vocational skills standardization and e-learning usage for vocational competencies improvement were discussed. At the end of June, the fifth issue from ABC.IT series was published. The issue is titled
"Focus on e-Content" and it refers particularly to problems with e-content creation. It discusses rules of cooperation between discipline expert and instructional designer in scope of e-course content documentation.
Quality indicator, criteria and methods of e-courses evaluation are presented. The series of papers referring to knowledge serving methodology is continued – a third part is devoted to dynamic e-courses scenario construction in TeleEdu environment.
Persons interested in practical aspect of e-learning will find valuable hints and pieces of advice on testing on their own e-courses conformance with SCORM specification, using Conformance Test Suite software. In addition, they will find a case-study based on Institute’s experience in this scope.
The other papers in the current issues concern innovative e-learning applications in electronic recruitment processes and in the Database on Innovation creation. In the issue, you can also find a report from introducing e-learning in state administration.

AdeLe Project Partners Meeting, Mondragon 2006
The meeting of AdeLe (Advanced eLearning) project Partners took place on 30 & 31 March 2006 in Mondragon in Spain. The project is conducted within the framework of eTEN programme. Consecutive stages of realization and dissemination of the project have been discussed. Bożena Przyborowska – our representative –presented the results of AdeLe platform tests in IMM.
The platform was tested by IMM to verify its conformance with IMS/SCORM standards, in order to assure educational content exchange possibility. The Partners presented consecutive market analysis and potential customers access trials. The next Partnership meeting will take place in June, in Warsaw.
CEMA-NET International Partnership Meeting
The Database on Innovations - BoI – already availableConsecutive meeting of CEMA-NET International Partnership took place in Vienna on 29 & 30 March 2006. Polish RENOWATOR Partnership was represented, among others, by our team colleagues – Tomasz Marciniak and Robert Murzynowski. The participants were working in three Working Groups (Social Responsibility, Constructive Adaptability and Long-Life Learning) and in the Steering Committee. The next Partnership meeting will take place in Gandia, on 28-30 June 2006.

XIII Exchange of Polish Inventions On 20.02 – 01.03 the XIII Exchange of Polish Inventions Awarded on World Exhibitions in 2005 took place in Museum of Technology in Warsaw. During the exhibition, TeleEdu e-learning technology, elaborated by the Institute of Mathematical Machines, was awarded by the diploma of Education & Science Ministry. See the diploma. On 19-20 January 2006 the MidTerm
Review meeting took place in Barcelona. During the
meeting, the Partners of AdeLe consortium have presented
to European Commission representatives the results of
work done so far. The Commission has ranked highly the
state of project development and decided to continue the
project. In the final document, the Commission has
suggested to perform deeper market analysis and
necessity of quick access to potential customers. The
IMM was represented by Bożena Przyborowska and

We changed the name of our e-learning technology We kindly inform you, that the name of our e-learning technology has been change, starting from 1st January 2006. In order to unify the names, the 'EWS SDK' part has been replaced by 'TeleEdu'. TeleEdu eLearning Suite contains:

the world of e-learning services." The lectures
presented during the workshop concerned the requirements which
every e-learning services provider should meet to. There were also presented
the adventages of european e-learning portlal and an offer of free
courses for e-learning stuff in SME (Small and Medium Enterprises).
Conference of eTen Programm
We would like to inform about participation of our college Bozena Przyborowska
in the ATVN-EU-GP conference organized on 1-3 December 2005 in Pultusk, Poland.
The conference had a special focus on projects involving partners from the New
Member States.
Bozena Przyborowska presented AdeLe (Advanced eLearning
for everybody) project and Institute of Mathematical Mashines as the
partner from NMS. The presentation was contributed to a separate eTEN section,
where eTEN projects from different panels of eHealth, eBusiness, eGovernment
and eLearning were presented.

Meeting of international partnership CEA-NET in Bratislava On 29. November 2005 a meeting of international
partnership CEMA-NET took place in Bratislava, Slovakia.
Silver medal for TeleEdu technology On 19-21.10.2005 IMM representatives
were taking part in VI International Inventions Exhibition, organized by Gdansk
International Fair. They where presenting innovative, e-learning technology
TeleEdu. During the Exhibition, TeleEdu technology was awarded by a
silver medal in “Electronics and Computer Science”

The awarded TeleEdu e-learning technology contains TeleEdu LMS e-learning
platform and EWS SDK e-Learning Suite, which includes:• EWS Editor (creating and debugging e-courses) • EWS Runtime (running, tracing and reporting e-courses) • EWS Report Browser (viewing and verifying courses) • EWS BodyGuard (encrypting e-courses content and licensing) At the stand, we were collecting declarations of innovation technologies from their authors / deliverers, in order to place them in our Internet database system BOI. There was also an opportunity to become familiar with innovative technologies offered to the market by our Innovation Representatives. Leaflets and brochures referring to these technologies were available at the stand. Education activities in AdeLe project
On 24 Oct. we have finished the stage of verification the English language
knowledge among state administration workers, who would like to participate in
e-learning course of English for middle-advanced. In total, 56 persons have
participated in an initial test, containing 50 questions. The great majority
has qualified on the 3rd level out of 5 possible, while only few managed to
reach level 4th and 5th. Comparing to the Spanish clerks, who presents rather
equal degree of English knowledge at the 4th level, the Poles have preformed
worse, but among people who have reached to highest 5th level, there are only
Poles.
“Instructional Designer” blended course
On Friday 21.10.2005 we started blended course for instructional designers. The
course is realized within the framework of
RENOWATOR Development Partnership. Project’s final beneficiaries
met with the project’s leaders in Training Laboratory of Training –
Consulting – Probation Centre. They were learning how to use TeleEdu LMS
e-learning platform. This tool will be used to distribute e-courses (parts of
“Instructional Designer” training), created by EWS SDK eLearning
Suite. In additional, the platform will act as a main communication channel
during training process. See other trainings offered within the framework of

Trainings in RENOWATOR Centre Ready to Start
In October, we start trainings and probations in
RENOWATOR Centre. These trainings and probations will be followed by
practices in enterprises. All these activities are performed in order to
acquire innovative vocational skills, demanded on the employment market, by the
members of target groups - 45+ and women returning from maternity. The examples
of innovative qualifications are: instructional designer, e-learning
consultant, e-mentor, e-learning content tester and evaluator and others.
We are also inviting SME leaders and managers to the series of meetings called “Business Meetings with a Cup of Computer Science”. One of them is “Innovative technologies and computer science specializations as a source of enterprise effectiveness and competitiveness increase”. Innovation Representatives Probations On 1st July, the first probations of candidates for Innovation Representatives have started. See the reportage (polish version).
The third Transnational CEMA-NET meeting
IFrom 27th to 29th of July the third meeting of CEMA-NET was held in Warsaw in hotel Sheraton. It was organized by our DP RENOWATOR. During meeting there were sessions of Steering Committee and also sessions of three Working Groups (Social Responsibility, Constructive Adaptability and Life Long Learning). One of the main purposes was to prepare the way of further work and to show fields of transnational cooperation. Next meeting of CEMA-NET is planned to take place in Bratislava on 30.11-02.12.2005. The lectures presented on this year’s conference was
consider, among others, new trends in development of e-learning dissemination
methods and means, tools selection criteria, some practical aspects of
e-courses delivery, and e-learning services development directions. The
conference was accompanied by the workshops, where one had a possibility to get
know, how authoring tools selection may support the course creation process,
and also how to put an e-course into the platform, starting from testing course
compliance with the standards (IMS, SCORM), through making corrections in a
course, configuring an environment, till running the course by a trainee. The
conference concluded with interesting discussion among the participants.

The trainings for Innovations Representatives On 4th-10th May 2005 the trainings entitled "Introduction to
e-learning and TeleEdu technology" took place in IMM's conference hall. The
trainings were designed for the Innovations Representatives and it was one of
the tasks in "Mazovia Centre of Knowledge on Innovation Technology Management".
The Innovations Representatives became familiar with general information on
e-learning and related technologies. They have also an opportunity to trace in
the practical exercises the whole cycle of an e-course and remote education -
starting from elaborating a course, through placing it on an e-learning
platform, distributing, executing, and finally reporting students' results.
During the exercises, the Innovations Representatives were working with EWS SDK
e-Learning Suite and TeleEdu LMS e-learning platform. The evaluation performed
just after the trainings shows that the Representatives had ranked highly the
trainings program as well as they way of conducting them.
Agenda (Polish Version) Transnational Partnership
The PRR RENOWATOR Partnership is right now signing the Transnational
Cooperarion Agreement (TCA). Partners from the following countries participate
in the transnational partnership: Austria, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy,
Poland, Slovakia, Spain. The Partnerships has been named CEMA-NET (Constructive
Employability and Adaptability).

AdeLe project Institute of Mathematical Machines is realizing AdeLe Project, in framework of E-TEN program. e-Learning platform for Ministry of Finance Our Institute has presented an offer to the Ministry of Finance, which has concerned providing access to the e-learning course via Internet and administrating the course. The offer has been selected to realization by the Commission, as the most advantageous. "INNOWATOR" Center The project "Mazovia Centre of Innovative Technologies Knowledge Management”, entered by IMM, has passed successfully the stage of merit evaluation and has gained financial support from European Social Funds, in framework of Activity 2.6 "Regional Innovative Strategies and Knowledge Transfer". Trainings for project "RENOWATOR Centre for small & medium enterprises " Partners In January we started trainings for Partnership for Development "RENOWATOR Centre for small & medium enterprises" (IW EQUAL project). The trainings subjects contain electronic forms creation and management, as well as supporting the Partnership’s activities by the Internet group-communication tools. The tools, which will support the Partnership in this scope, are the application of TeleEdu LMS platform. Our man in Maastricht By the half of December, we had pleasure to participate in
„Leonardo da Vinci Thematic Monitoring Initiative” conference in
Maastricht, in seminary entitled „Continuous vocational training for
workers in small companies especially from the manufacturing and processing
industries”. We were invited by the European Commission. We were
presenting on the conference TeleEdu - EWS SDK e-learning technology, which was
elaborated during the Leonardo project and was acknowledged by the LdV Agency
as one of the best product in all LdV pilot projects. During the conference, we
had an opportunity to share the experience concerning project realization with
other participants, and to establish new contacts.
We have gained IW EQUAL project "RENOWATOR Centre for small & medium enterprises" project,
entered in subject F of IW EQUAL competition by the Partners – Institute
of Mathematical Machines, Institute of Computer Science – Polish Academy
of Science, The Polish Chamber of Commerce and Kobiety.pl portal, has been
accepted for realization (Activity 1), starting from 16.11.2004.

"IMM's e-learning school" has started In September 2004 started first training from the "IMM's
e-learning school". The training includes: introduction to e-learning,
different modes of electronic learning, standardization of e-learning, economic
aspects of e-learning solutions, market analysis, and many others.

Tools for electronic courses authoring - selection criteria There was elaborated a set of criteria for e-courses’
authoring tool selection. An article, written by Ph.D. Jolanta
Brzostek-Pawłowska, was prepared on the base of materials published by
Brandon-Hall, SCORM 2004 specification and IMS QTI 1.0 specification.

First issue of "ABC.IT" journal available First issue of e-learning journal "ABC.IT" has been
successively published. The publication is based on the IMM researches and
encloses the analysis of e-learning market in 2003/2004. It includes the
knowledge of computer-aided learning processes, e-learning standards, the
survey of types and functions of e-learning systems, the survey of LMS
(Learning Management Systems) and LCMS/CMS (Learning Content Managemaent

17th June 2004 - the 2. conference "Computer-aided learning" was organized by IMM
The conference lectures related to the role of description and
classification of e-courses, functions and ways of using e-learning systems
(LMS - Learning Management System), delivery of e-courses without the aid of
the LMS. The conference concluded with very interesting discussion among the
participants.
Seminar in Centrum Informacji Społeczno-Gospodarczej
We encourage all programmers interested in .NET technology and
MS Visual Studio .NET to acquaint with
the presentation (in Polish), which was presented by our colleague on
the seminar in Centrum Informacji Społeczno-Gospodarczej (Social-economic
Information Center) by Ministry of Economy, Labour and Social Policy in March.
"Edukacja Informatyczna w Polsce" conference
During the "Edukacja Informatyczna w Polsce" (Information
Technology Education in Poland) conference, which took place in Cracow,
December 12-13th, 2004, Ms. Ph.D. Jolanta Brzostek-Pawłowska, Information
Systems Department manager, gave a lecture on e-learning standards. The
lecture is available in Polish in
Publications. The organizers of the conference were Wydawnictwa Szkolne
i Pedagogiczne Publishing House and Ministry of Scientific Research and
Information Technology.
"Internet dla Niepełnosprawnych 2003" seminar On the eleventh day of December, 2003, on the "Internet dla
Niepełnosprawnych 2003" seminar, the representatives of IMM gave a lecture on
EWS SDK eLearning Suite - an e-learning system, which was developed within the
Leonardo da Vinci EU programm. The seminar has been organized by
Fundacja Pomocy Matematykom i Informatykom Niesprawnym Ruchowo. Materials from

IMM at the ONLINE-EDUCA Berlin 2003 conference At the beginning of December, 2003, during the ONLINE-EDUCA
e-learning conference in Berlin, delegation of IMM, together with FPMiINR
representative, presented the results of
Leonardo da Vinci EU pilot programm. The members of the conference
could acquaint with
EWS SDK eLearning Suite - IMM's e-learning system for e-course
authoring, delivery and reporting. The conference was also a great opportunity
to exchange experience with other e-learning systems' and e-courses' producers.
